Can you share a story about how you first realized you were an “innovator” in your field?

I’ve always been naturally curious and open to thinking outside the box. I don’t view problems as roadblocks, but as challenges that offer opportunities to find new solutions. I’ve always pushed myself and others to think beyond the obvious.

A key moment when I realized I was an innovator came during my time at WiscNet. Over the years, in various roles, I consistently brought fresh insights to projects. By combining my technical thinking with business knowledge, I contributed unique ideas. This blend of experiences and education helped shape me into the innovator I am today.

What experiences or influences shaped your innovative mindset?

Growing up in Bulgaria during communism had a major impact on how I approach innovation. At five years old, I saw communities unite to demand change, teaching me that innovation is always possible when people work together for a common purpose. This mindset has driven me to challenge conventional thinking and find creative solutions throughout my career.

Another key influence on my journey has been my husband. His constant support and belief in me have helped me grow into the strong woman and innovator I am today.

Whether it's offering advice, a fresh perspective, or simply being there as a sounding board, his constant support has played a key role in my ability to push boundaries and pursue my ideas with confidence.

Can you describe your creative process from ideation to execution?

My creative process, from ideation to execution, focuses on breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps, much like the approach one of our Board members recently mentioned: “How do you eat an elephant? Spoon by spoon.”

I start by listening and understanding. Before jumping into execution. Once I have a clear understanding, I begin to break down the problem into smaller, actionable steps.

Throughout the process, I believe in a balance of teaching and learning. As I move from ideation to execution, I make sure to share insights and collaborate with others, teaching what I’ve learned along the way. At the same time, I’m constantly learning from the feedback and ideas of those around me, which helps refine the execution.

Finally, I move into execution, taking these smaller, well-understood pieces and bringing them to life.

What emerging trends excite you the most?

Two emerging trends I’m excited about are artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technology. The world is heavily investing in quantum research, understanding how it will impact security and competitiveness. The combination of AI and quantum technology is a game-changer that I’m eager to see unfold.

What daily habits or routines help you stay productive and creative?

  • Walking and Movement: Regular walks or physical activity are key to clearing my mind.

  • Continuous Relationship Building: I believe strong connections are essential for creativity.

  • Collaborating: Collaborating with others brings fresh perspectives and keeps me motivated.

  • Creative Block Time: I want to add a dedicated "Creative Block Time" to my day. I'm still working on it.
